New Adventures in Hi-Def
Old TV died. Bought a new one. It’s LCD. It’s 16:9.
It’s totally rad.
(And that “anamorphic widescreen” thing? With the DVDs? Dooood…)

Wow, this post is like something from 1999 - wait until the Hi-Def future arrives man, it’s awesome (also: you should check out these totally rad mini-hi-fi things we have here in the future, they’re called iPods)

Yeah, yeah. I’m sure consumer technology moves much faster in your country, PJ, considering the population is, what, 46 people and some sheep? And sheep, as you well know, are extremely susceptible to advertising. So there’s half the job done.
Seriously, though, HDTV is just now starting to go mainstream in the US. Before this year, it was strictly the province of home theatre enthusiasts with too much money. I believe you call them “wankers”. We’re in the transition period right now, where most people still own tube TVs, but you can’t really buy them anymore. So, when your trusty old CRT breaks, you now have no choice but to get a hi-def set. And that’s exactly the situation we were in.
